’64 RED CAT STRAT is a set that is produced by me according to the Fender's formula from that period. Following the takeover of Fender by CBS, several important changes occurred that affected production and the materials used. It was probably related to saving money, but it also had an impact on the sound of the guitars. The most important change was the use of black 42AWG Plain enamel wire. The magnets used are versatile Alnico 5. All this was built on bobbins with bottom gray fiberboard. This is how a new era of guitars with the inscription "Fender" began.
For many guitarists this change was revolutionary but it also started the time of the greatest guitarists whose sound is a model for others to this day. If you are looking for the sound you know from Gilmour, Hendrix or the riffs of Red Hot… then '64 RED CAT STRAT pickups will help you achieve it.
Use the amp and effects that are right for you and you'll have it.
Compared to coils produced with Heavy formvar wire the sound is sharper and more rough.
The bottom is full and rich. The midrange is balanced and the highs sound clear and bell-like. Coils are wound a little hotter with higher resistance of the bridge coil to obtain a balance of the whole set. When overdriven they show what they are made for. The great separation of notes will be enhanced by the roughness and dynamics.
Blues, Indie, Funk, Reggae, Rock is their speciality.
This set has a waxed outer layer of coils, such as all vintage Fender pickups. The center of the coil is not waxed to obtain pure, crystal sound and high dynamics.
We achieve this thanks to the method that includes waxing at a certain temperature for a certain time.
If you prefer completely waxed coils add "Wax Potted" to the "Add a Note" at checkout.
